NATO disavows cross-border raids as US bombs Pakistani village

September 12, 2008: At least 12 people were killed and 10 others injured in yet an other US drone's attack at Miranshah in North Waziristan, Pakistan, just a day after NATO officials announced in Brussels that its forces will not take part in the US strategy of conducting raids into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
The latest cross-border attack was carried out despite US assurance not to conduct any further raid inside Pakistan's territory, reported Pakistan's News International (Jang) and Dawn newspapers.
Its sources said that US drones launched an attack inside Pakistan's area at 4am on September 12. Two missiles were fired at a house in Tol Khel area on the outskirts of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan district.
According to an International Herald Tribune report, local residents said the dead included women and children
“The NATO policy, that is our mandate, ends at the border,” James Appathurai told a regular news briefing in Brussels.
“There are no ground or air incursions by NATO forces into Pakistani territory.”
